Martin Luther King Jr. Day – Children’s Books and Resources

I realized it is time to get my Martin Luther King Jr. stuff out, and in fact I’d better hurry. With the late start of school due to the  snow storm and MLK Jr. day being fairly early.. uh oh. Almost out of time! I compiled a list of the books I love to read and use for lessons in my second grade classroom and posted an image below for you. If you click on each book cover, it will take you to Amazon. You can also maybe find them in your town library or a colleague may have them. Below the image I will list some resources I found. There are many great freebies on sites like Teachers Pay Teachers and tons of teacher blogs have posts about Martin Luther King Jr. Day activities.

Here are links to info about the books on Amazon if you want to learn more or grab any for yourself!
Martin’s Big Words by Doreen Rappaport
My Brother Martin by Christine King Farris
My Daddy by Martin Luther King III
I Have a Dream book and CD by Kadir Nelson and Martin Luther King, Jr.
I realized I accidentally repeated a book twice in that image – sorry! PLUS I found a couple more great ones. Try these books for young readers:
