12 in '12

At the last minute, I have linked up with Miss Kindergarten for her 12 in '12 linky party! Read on and go over to her blog to check it out!

All you have to do is think back at your favorites in 2012 and add a few pictures. What a fun way to remember the year, huh!? You can use these prompts if you'd like, or just type up your 12 favorite things!

My 12 in '12 :

12. Favorite movie you watched:
Lincoln ! It was terrific.

11. Favorite TV series:
Tough one! I'd say it's a tie between True Blood and Walking Dead. Right now Walking dead is edging it out because True Blood isn't on until June.

10. Favorite restaurant:
A new one in a new place: David Burke's Primehouse in Chicago

9. Favorite new thing you tried:
Blogging and "tpting" (is that a word?)!

8. Favorite gift you got:
Hmmm... I'd say the surprise flowers my boyfriend sent me this fall, no particular occasion, just 'cause! :-)

7. Favorite thing you pinned:

6. Favorite blog post:
Probably the post from my first giveaway since I got so many comments from new bloggy friends! I love comments!

5. Best accomplishment:
Losing almost 18 pounds. I started in January and met my goal in September. Of course I gained 5 back but I was psyched!

4. Favorite picture:
The first pic of me and my honey in Chicago

3. Favorite memory:
Probably the first time my boyfriend came here for a visit in the summer! So fun!

2. Goal for 2013:
I'd love to get a Reading Specialist position this year!

1. One Little Word:
Love ! 2013 is going to be all about love!

Welcome to 2nd Grade Pad

Oh no! I was visiting my boyfriend and trying to get back to New England. I made my flight to Cleveland but before I even got off my plane it was cancelled. I considered driving back to his place (6+ hours) or driving home (14+ hours probably) but the big storm made me too nervous to drive. So here I am at a hotel. Couldn't get a flight until tomorrow evening! Ack. Could not get a flight back to ny boyfriend and could not get a flight to Boston or NH with United or US Air before then. :( It is better to be safe here but I want to get stuff done at home. Are any of you stuck trying to get home from holiday travels?

If you're looking for any post-holiday teacher shopping, I am having a sale at my teachers pay teachers store and my teacher's notebook store, too. Plus, lots of free stuff!

I don't have my netbook, but I can catch up on my teacher blogs on my phone or ipad and come here to the business center too. Good times ! Hope you all had a happy Christmas!

My Favorite Book Series

Yesterday I was thinking about my favorite book series. There are so many (and so little time)! Some I loved when I was younger and some I discovered when I started teaching. These books are all fun for read-alouds and independent reading. I love Fox books, Frog and Toad, and Henry and Mudge for small group work during RTI.

Adore her ! Last time I read a Madeline book, a student mentioned the fun rhymes!

Curious George
I read a lot of him as a kid. My brother loved him but I haven't read as many lately but always great! George is so endearing!

Fox series
Fox is so cute! He never wants his sister Louise to come along and they tend to get into a pickle frequently but it always works out.

Frog and Toad
Frog and Toad are wonderful. I vaguely remember them from when I was a kid. When I student taught, the multiage 1-2 teachers used them a lot and I got back into them.

Henry and Mudge
Mudge reminds me so much of my giant dog, Saint Bernard Bailey! Giant dogs are so wonderful.

Magic School Bus
I read many of these when I was babysitting for a little boy about 15 years ago. I learned a lot and they go great with science curriculum. The videos are fun too, and yes, that voice is Theo from the Cosby Show!

Magic Tree House
I was thinking about this series and I've had over 300 second graders and I believe all of them have read more than one of these. Mary Pope Osborne is a genius!

Vet Volunteers
My boyfriend is a vet so of course I checked these out! They are great!

Wayside School
This series is so wacky! You've got a computer being pushed out a window, Miss Mush's mushroom surprise, and a backwards chapter. How can you lose?

Ramona Quimby
As I mentioned a few days ago, LOVE her!

Little House on the Prairie
A classic!
